What is Scope of practice?
Scope of practice is the set of clinical activities a license legally permits: what a physician, NP, PA, RN, LPN, or aesthetician may perform, under what supervision, in a given state. In aesthetic medicine it decides who may inject, fire a laser, start an IV, or perform a good faith exam.
How it works in an aesthetic clinic
The same laser treatment might be performed by an RN under delegation in one state, require an NP in a second, and permit a supervised certified aesthetician in a third. A clinic operating in two states therefore runs two staffing models. Hiring plans, treatment menus, and software permission settings all inherit from the scope rules, which is why the question comes before every job posting.
