What does an AI receptionist cost?

Somewhere between “less than you think” and “depends how they meter it.” The three pricing models, published examples, and a calculator that does the comparison for your actual call volume — with the staffing math kept honest.

The three pricing models

Per-minute: you pay for talk time — flexible at low volume, unpredictable at high; watch rates that look small until a chatty month multiplies them. Per-call: a flat rate per answered call regardless of length — predictable per unit, still volume-exposed. Monthly plans with included minutes: a known bill with overage rates published up front — the model that behaves like software instead of a meter. Gracero uses the third: voice plans at $99, $249, and $699 per month with 100, 400, and 1,200 minutes included and $0.70–$0.85/min overage, published in full at gracero.ai/pricing.

Run your numbers

Slide to your call volume and what an hour of front-desk time really costs you (wages plus taxes and benefits). The calculator compares the staff time your phones consume with the matching voice plan.

Phone minutes / month

Gracero Voice Unlimited

Estimates from your inputs only. Staff-time figure prices phone coverage during open hours; it can’t answer at 2 am, and a human does far more than answer phones — the honest comparison is coverage, not replacement. Voice AI plans and overage rates as published at gracero.ai/pricing.

The honest staffing comparison

Vendors love “replace your $40,000 receptionist for $99” — resist it. Your front desk checks clients in, handles payments, soothes the anxious, upsells the curious; none of that is a phone answering problem. The defensible math is narrower and still compelling: the hours of staff time your phone actually consumes, the calls that ring out at lunch and after close (each a bookable client calling a competitor next), and what coverage-by-hiring would cost for nights and weekends — a shift no independent clinic staffs. AI wins that comparison on cost; it wins the 2 am call on existence.

Cost is the smaller half of the decision

The bigger half is whether the AI can act. A receptionist that only takes messages competes with voicemail. One built into your platform books against live availability, applies deposit rules, texts the confirmation, and logs the call on the client record — revenue motion, not message-taking. That distinction, and where a human answering service still wins, is the subject of answering service vs AI receptionist; the product itself lives at AI receptionist.

Questions, answered

Everything you're wondering.

Three models dominate: per-minute (usage-billed, often $0.50–$1+ per minute at published market rates), per-call flat rates, and monthly plans with included minutes. Gracero's published voice plans run $99/mo (100 minutes), $249/mo (400 minutes), and $699/mo (1,200 minutes) with per-minute overage — text-based agents are included in the platform plan itself.
For phone coverage, almost always — a monthly AI plan costs less than even a few hours a week of loaded staff time, and it answers at 2 am. But the honest framing is coverage, not replacement: your front desk does far more than answer phones. The win is taking the phone load off a team you keep, and catching the calls that used to ring out.
Four things: per-minute rates that look small until you multiply by real volume; setup or 'training' fees; whether booking actions are included or premium; and whether the AI can act in your software at all — a cheap answering bot that only takes messages competes with voicemail, not with a receptionist.
No — the seven agents (receptionist drafts/replies, waitlist refill, no-show recovery, review requests, booking chat, insights) are included in the Professional plan at $299/mo. Voice — answering actual phone calls — is the one add-on, priced by minutes as shown on the pricing page.
